Who we are
Foundation is a personal finance app run by FDTN, Inc. (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Foundation on the web or on your phone. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
Information, not advice
Foundation shows you information about your money and tools to plan with. It is not a bank or a registered investment adviser, and nothing in it, including answers from Ask, is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Figures can be incomplete or out of date, so check anything important with your bank or a qualified professional before you act on it. Foundation cannot move money.
Your account
You must be at least 18 and live in the United States to use Foundation. Give us accurate sign-up details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anyone you invite to share your household.
Subscriptions and billing
Foundation is a paid subscription, billed monthly or annually through our payment processor, Stripe. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. A promo code, where offered, gives free days before your first charge. You can cancel anytime from Settings, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Prices are shown on our pricing page; if they change, we will tell you before your next renewal.
Bank data through Plaid
Bank and investment accounts are connected through Plaid, with read-only access. We never see your bank login. By connecting an account you also agree to Plaid’s own terms and privacy policy. Data comes from your bank through Plaid, and we cannot promise it is always complete, correct or current.
Acceptable use
Use Foundation only for your own and your household’s finances. Don’t connect accounts you aren’t authorized to access, try to reach other people’s data, disrupt or overload the service, probe it for weaknesses without our permission, scrape it, or resell it. Found a security issue? Please tell us instead.
Ending your use
You can stop using Foundation and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk, and we will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. What happens to your data when an account closes is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers and liability
Foundation is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on what Foundation shows you. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Foundation changes. We will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Foundation after that means you accept the new terms.
