What Foundation is

Foundation is a personal finance app. You connect your bank and investment accounts, and we show you a picture of your money — spending, budgets, net worth, and forward-looking runway.

What we collect and why

• Account info — your name, email, and profile photo, from Google sign-in or the email you register with.
• Financial data — read-only account, balance, and transaction data from your bank via Plaid. We never receive or store your bank login credentials.
• Usage data — the minimum needed to keep the app working and secure, such as sign-in timestamps.

How we use it

Solely to run Foundation for you: showing your accounts, categorizing transactions, computing budgets and goals, and generating the insights you see in the app. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the providers Foundation runs on: Plaid (bank connections), Supabase (authentication and database), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (product analytics and error reports, with every dollar figure and anything you type masked out of session recordings), and Google (if you sign in with Google). Each processes data under its own privacy policy and only to provide their service to us. Transaction categorization and Ask run on Foundation’s own server, not a third-party AI service; to identify an unfamiliar merchant it may run a web search for the merchant’s cleaned-up name and city, never amounts, accounts, or your name.

Your controls

You can disconnect any bank connection at any time from Settings, and switch any account off so it no longer appears in Foundation. You can turn off product analytics, error reports and session recordings for yourself under Settings → Profile; it takes effect immediately and applies wherever you sign in. To delete your account and all of your financial data, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
